It’s a wearable device aiming to help its users do what they’ve always wanted to do, but never been able to follow through and finish. Wake up earlier, go the gym every day, meditate, write…we all have habits we’ve tried to form but failed at time and time again.
Pavlok combines data tracking capabilities, commitment techniques, and reminder triggers to change users' brains and form the habits they’ve always wished they had. And if they don’t do what they’ve committed to doing, Pavlok lets them know and amps up the motivation.
You see, Pavlok uses a variety of negative stimuli to motivate you. If you fail to achieve your commitments, it can beep loudly, vibrate, and even shock you...literally. It also leverages social and financial pressures to reinforce your habit formation, like posting to your Facebook wall that you didn’t make it to the gym today. Ouch.
Its founder, Maneesh Sethi, will be speaking to Action Design about the science behind willpower and habits, how he’s integrated them with Pavlok, and show us how it all comes together in the product.
Here’s the agenda for the evening:
6:30 PM: Drinks, food, and socializing
7:00: Introduction and presentation from Maneesh
7:30: Q&A with the audience
7:45: Community announcements. If you’re hiring, want to tell us about an awesome event coming up, or have anything else to tell the Action Design community, let everyone know!
8:00: More drinks, food, and socializing.
