Center of the universe

When I was a camp counselor, we use to tell the young and naive campers that Lower Merion (the main line of Philadelphia) was the center of the universe. This was an easy explanation to the eight year olds because nearly all of them (and the counselors) hailed from that blessed suburb. It was a fun little white lie to keep the kids talking about wondering. Little did I know, or them for that matter, the real center of the universe is an island due east of New Jersey and due west of the Nassau coliseum, New York City.

Today's The Day I...

I stumbled upon Lydia Warren one day when I was researching a self-cultivated dream project of doing one thing every single day for 365 days that intrigued me or introduced me to something/someone new. While it’s not a pipe dream, I wanted to create some structure in my initiative and create a plan of attack if I ever decided to follow through with it. I went to Google to see if anyone had attempted something similar and amidst a slew of Buzzfeed lists, TimeOut NYC articles and other city directories, I found an authentic account of one girl's NYC attempt at urban discovery. For one full year, Lydia Warren did something new every day and blogged about her experience. After reading her blog and becoming an active member of her blogging community, I had to get a chance to meet Lydia.
